Antique Faded Red Book Stack

This is a stunning set of five antique French books in faded red tones. They are "aged to perfection" and will give you an instant "old library" effect.
The perfect original gift for booklovers the world over. They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft shades. They make excellent film and photo props and would be ideal for a boho, or shabby chic, themed wedding as a table centerpiece decoration.
The five books are all hard cover editions, they are distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose:
The titles are:
"Histoire de France." Cours Moyen et Supérieur. A. Aymard (1928 edition.)
"Histoire de France." Cours supérieur 1ère Annéé. E. Lavisse (1941 edition.) These books are guides to French history from Prehistoric times through to the 1st World War of 1914-1918. They cover in detail times such as the Gallo-Roman period, the Crusades, Middle Ages, the 100 Years War and the French Revolution to name but a few.

"L'Oeuvre de Victor Hugo, Poésie, Prose, Théatre." Maurice Levaillent (1939 edition.) Victor Hugo (26 February 1802 – 22 May 1885) was a French poet, novelist, and dramatist of the Romantic movement. Hugo is considered to be one of the greatest and best-known French writers. This is a study of collections of his poetry, and plays.

"Cours Primaire de Grammaire Française, Théorie, 610 Exercises, 48 Rédactions. Cours élémentaire. J. Dussouchet (1929 edition.) Published by France's famous Parisian publisher "Librarie Hachette." This is an amazing book, packed full of language lessons and exercises, analysis and verb conjugations for 6–8-year-olds.

"La Deuxième Année d'Enseignement Scientifique." Paul Bert (1905 edition.) A second year of lessons in natural science and physics for school children. This book is filled with fabulous old diagrams and illustrations of experiments in heat, light, weight, pressure, electricity, magnetism, gases, liquids, solids and much more! There are sections on food and farming, weather patterns and gardening. It has a few slightly torn pages.

To display in a bundle, tied with twine, you will need a minimum space of 10cms/ 4" high x 20cms/ 78" long x 13cms/ 5" deep.
They weigh 1.8kgs/ 4 lbs.

They are in genuine antique condition, as you can see from the photos. They have been held and read by many, many people who have "thumbed through" them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names and illustrations inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.

Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.
