The plates measure 24.5cms/ 9½" diameter and each weighs 400gms / 14ozs.
Lunéville Faience is one of the most famous French pottery manufacturers. It has been located in Lunéville, Lorraine, France since 1730 and is very collectible. This plate set has two different Lunéville K & G (Keller et Guerin) marks on the undersides (see last two photos.)
There are six different designs on the plates illustrating various European freshwater fish swimming amongst reeds and seashells. The fish are accurately represented, dynamic in movement, with gorgeous detailing on the heads, fins and tails.
This set is in excellent condition. They have no chips. There is the faintest "wear" to the gilding on a couple of the plates and they have ageing "hairline crackle" to the glazes, which is to be expected with the age of this set. Nothing whatsoever to detract from their beauty or functionality; it, in fact, adds to the charm and authenticity of these gorgeous items.
